I had the opportunity to represent Rocky Mountain Smokers visiting our BBQ friends in Ontario, and was able to attend the CBBQS Memphis in May fundraiser earlier this month. It was great to finally meet some of the great BBQ folks from out East, and start to put names to some of the stories/legends that have been shared. However, I could have done without the snow...

David, Pat and their band of crazy volunteers put on a hell of a spread, great que for sure. The pork belly sliders were my favourite, but I'm always a sucker for amazing brisket which David delivered. The chilli turned out to be a nice little appetiser for the evening, and even though my favourite didn't win, it was a great showing of friendly competition to start the evening.

The evening progressed to a relaxed post-dinner glow (thanks to Paul Firlotte & Elijah Craig), enjoying the friendship, conversation, and the amazing harmonica skills of Daryl Maybanks. I'm glad I was able to attend (even though I still think the draw was biased against anybody from Alberta) and I'm looking forward to coming out East to compete with my new BBQ brothers and sisters. Good times.
