Kris Valckx
Secretary
My name is Kris "Big Daddy" Valckx, and I run Rocky Mountain Smokers out of Calgary. We're going into our 5th season and have been lucky/good enough to win a trophy or prize at every comp we've competed in. I'm also the Secretary for the BBQ on the Bow Society board of directors, and we're proud to run Canada's longest running sanctioned BBQ competition, going into the 21st annual this year! I compete at both KCBS & PNWBA events in Western Canada and the US.

Chapter Lead - Saskatchewan

Scott Chomos
Treasurer
Scott Chomos is the pit master of Arrowhead North BBQ, a family based BBQ team that just completed their 4th year on the competition circuit. 2016 was by far and away our most successful year, highlighted by our trip to the Jack and American Royal (and of course winning the 2016 CBBQS Canadian Team of the Year.) Attending these major U.S. events was an incredible eye opener, from the passion and skill of the pit masters, the quality of their BBQ, the interest from the public and the camaraderie amongst the teams. All of these things make me excited about continuing to build the sport of competition BBQ in the Great White North.

Chapter Lead - Southern Ontario

Marc LeBlanc
BBQ for me is a way of life. I got involved in competition BBQ back in 2011 at a small amateur event in Listowell, Ontario. Our team came 2nd out of 2 teams. Regardless, the fun we had, the people we met, the things we learned we were hooked. A few years and many contests later my passion for BBQ grows more each day. I love competing in BBQ, having my family involved with me, I love the people I've met and continue to meet. I love cooking BBQ, talking about BBQ and how BBQ brings communities together. BBQ in our region is growing and I'm happy to be a part of helping it grow! If anyone - general public, event organizer, fellow competitor, a BBQ judge - ever wants to chat BBQ just reach out, I'd love to have a chat!

I teach private BBQ Clinics in Ottawa and as part of my association with BBQclasses.ca, I teach Competition BBQ Classes in Eastern Canada. You could say that BBQ sauce runs in my blood. As a Canadian BBQer, I am incredibly passionate about our hobby and it's presence in Canada. Now in our 4th year in operation, The Canadian BBQ Society is bigger than ever and as a member of the Board of Directors, I am very proud to serve the Members any way I can.
